Book Blogger Appreciation Week: Readers

I have loved seeing all the post up for BBAW and I finally found a spare mintue to prepare my own post! You can stop by the BBAW blog and check out the other post topics for the rest of the week if you would like to participate as well. :))

Book bloggers blog because we love reading. Has book blogging changed the way you read? Have you discovered books you never would have apart from book blogging? How has book blogging affected your book acquisition habits? Have you made new connections with other readers because of book blogging? Choose any one of these topics and share your thoughts today!

That first statement is very true; I am a book blogger and I do it because I love to read! Overall, I really believe that the way I read has changed since I began blogging. Before, I would write reviews for the books I read, but it was never anything very extensive just stuff like: "Wow! I really loved this book!!! And **insert character here** was awesome!!!" And that was basically a review. When I started blogging I knew that my readers would need more than that, so I found myself stopping to think: "I really want to mention that in my review!" while reading and while I kind of analyze the book I little more. I think this all betters my reading experience. I love writing reviews, because it gives me a note of finality. I can let out my final sigh of contentment and know that I'm done with this book and it's time to move on to another. I love that feeling.

Another thing I love about blogging is that I now discover books I never would have otherwise. One way is that since I'm so immersed in the book blogging community I see what other people are reading and get awesome suggestions. I also have authors emailing me and asking me to review their books! It's a wonderful feeling and I have broadened my horizons in what genres I read. I also love using NetGalley, because they bring books to my attention that I might have previously overlooked! And, yes!, my "book acquisition habits" (I love how they worded that; it sounds so much better than book hoarding!) have very much been affected...... but in a good way! :))

The last question up there is asking if I have made new connections with other readers because of book blogging........ and the answer is "I sure hope so!" I guess only my readers can tell me if I've really connected with them. And I really hope I have. I always love reading comments from my readers telling me that they are now adding a certain book I've reviewd to their to-read pile! It's just a wonderful feeling. Every little comment is like a virtual hug just for me! I hope I've done my job and I hope you like my blog!

Happy Reading!!!

-Kristen ♥
