This is a meme created by Naiche @ The Book Girl Reads  where you answer a blog/book related question each week. Question: What's the worst review you've ever given to a book?   Before I begin, you should know that I really don't like giving books bad reviews because I am aware of how hard that author must have worked on it. But some books are just bad, it can't be helped. The worst review I ever gave to a book was the one I wrote for Tris & Izzie  by Mette Ivie Harrison . You see, the premise sounded wonderful and the cover was really pretty. But alas, it was all misleading and very disappointing. The beginning of the book was actually pretty good (so as to draw you in), but from there it all went downhill. But by the time I realized how horrible different it was going to be, I was already a pretty good ways in and I couldn't just abandon it. So, I finished my review and posted it HERE . And when I was done, I was grateful that I had gotten my ARC from Netga

TGIF is a weekly feature hosted by GReads! that has a different question each week. This Friday's Question: Buy or Borrow: Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore? The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan?     Most of the books I read come from the either Books-A-Million or Amazon. I also get quite a few books from Netgalley and authors. And, of course, I take full advantage of my public library. Honestly, I like to own books rather than just have them on loan. This because when I really love a book, I just have to own my own copy. It's an addiction.   :)) -Kristen ♥

Review: Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen

Image
Title: Scarlet Author: A.C. Gaughen Publisher: Walker Childrens Publication Date: February 14, 2012 Synopsis: Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance. Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in. It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for. Verdict: When I read the premise for Scarlet, I knew immediately that I just had to read it! Because first of all, it's a story about Robin Hood and s

Review: Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: Obsidian Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout Series: Lux, #1 Publisher: Entangled Publishing Publication Date: November 29, 2011 Synopsis: Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t k
