Review: Also Known As by Robin Benway

Title: Also Known As
Author: Robin Benway
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Publication Date: February 26, 2013

Synopsis: Being a 16-year-old safecracker and active-duty daughter of international spies has its moments, good and bad. Pros: Seeing the world one crime-solving adventure at a time. Having parents with super cool jobs. Cons: Never staying in one place long enough to have friends or a boyfriend. But for Maggie Silver, the biggest perk of all has been avoiding high school and the accompanying cliques, bad lunches, and frustratingly simple locker combinations.

Then Maggie and her parents are sent to New York for her first solo assignment, and all of that changes. She'll need to attend a private school, avoid the temptation to hack the school's security system, and befriend one aggravatingly cute Jesse Oliver to gain the essential information she needs to crack the case . . . all while trying not to blow her cover.

Verdict: Also Known As is so flippin' adorable! I absolutely loved the book and the characters! Maggie, the MC, is completely awesome- she is the daughter of two spies and a spy herself! Her family works for the Collective, a secret group that works to try and make the world a better place, one case at a time. But in order to carry out their missions, they need special people with a certain skill set to help them. Maggie is a safe- cracker. There is no lock, safe, or vault that can keep her out! She has been sent to New York along with her family and has finally been offered her very own case. The assignment? Get close to Jessie Oliver in order to retrieve some files that, could reveal the Collective and it's members, his Dad is planning to publish. But when she goes undercover, she realizes it's a lot harder than she originally thought to separate her emotions from the case. Will her judgement be clouded now that she's actually made a real friend and is staring to maybe, possibly like Jessie Oliver? You'll have to read the book to find out! And trust me it'll be worth it..... Overall, this book was a short, light-hearted, and completely enjoyable read! I loved the plot! I loved the spies! I loved the banter between Roux and Maggie! I loved Angelo! And I just might have been crushing on Jessie Oliver right along with Maggie! <3 I've got my fingers crossed that Robin Benway decides to write a sequel- I would love to read more about the adventures that these characters get into!
