Book Review: White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: White Hot Kiss
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: The Dark Elements, #1
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Publication Date: February 25, 2014

Synopsis: One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Review: When I read a book that I know I'll be reviewing, I often find myself analyzing the story in order to try and write a fairly good review with my informed opinion. But what always happens with Jennifer L. Armentrout books is that I find myself just purely enjoying the story and the characters and the total awesomeness. White Hot Kiss is definitely a new favorite! Bringing with it, a new book boyfriend! Oh, Roth...... This boy is just..... beyond words!! I would definitely love to see him and Daemon Black go toe-to-toe! Layla, our feisty heroine, is totally kickass! She can steal your soul with just one deadly kiss. So it's a good thing Roth doesn't have one of those pesky little souls getting in the way of him delivering some very steamy kisses! "Why doesn't he have a soul?" you may ask. Well, it's because he's a demon. And demons are the sworn enemies of the Wardens, aka gargoyles. Yeah, you read that right. A YA book with gargoyles, demons, and hot boys. What more could you ask for? Seriously, read this book! It's absolutely ahhh-mazing!!  <3  But prepare yourself for that ending! I am absolutely dying as I await the sequel!

An ARC was provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
