Book Review: Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: Wicked
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: A Wicked Saga, #1
Publication Date: December 8, 2014

Synopsis: Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Review: Wow! Jennifer L. Armentrout has done it again. This book is, dare I say it, wicked awesome. Wickedly good fun. Filled with, oh so, wicked characters...

It was like JLA looked into my soul and found something I didn't even know I wanted- but now that's it's here, I want more! New Adult Paranormal books. She took those yummy New Adult romances and combined it with the kick-ass awesomeness of the Paranormal genre. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, our main character, Ivy is part of this group called The Order and they kill faeries. But these aren't your mama's fae.

These creatures are dangerous and are plotting up some evil schemes that are about to go down. And did I mention this book takes place in New Orleans? I have never had a beignet before, but good lord was I having a wicked craving for one of these babies.

Then we have Ren. Oh Ren.... Let's just say he has joined the ranks when it comes to my book boyfriends. This boy is wickedly hot and sweet, and he definitely watches Disney movies because he totally thinks Ivy looks like Merida.

Possibly my favorite character, is dear old Tink. This little brownie may be tiny, but he's got a big personality. He's a Harry Potter and Twilight fanatic, he collects troll dolls, he's got a sweet tooth, and he's got a bit of a potty mouth. What's not to love?

This book was just fan-freakin'-tastic! It kept me guessing up until the very end, I thought I knew what was going to happen, then JLA would make me think something else, and I just had to keep reading! I loved all the characters! I loved the setting! And I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel because I know it's going to be just as amazing as this one!

Rating: 5/5 Stars
