Title: The Crimson Hunt
Author: Victoria H. Smith
Series: Eldaen Light Chronicles, #1
Publication Date: November 8, 2012

Synopsis: College junior Ariel Richmond is working on year three of Project Normalcy.

Her house reeks of keggers past and her bestie is just a slight bit vulgar. But the thing is—they both aid in making life refreshingly uneventful.

So much for hard-earned mediocrity when Luca Grinaldi appears on the scene.

Luca’s sudden presence on campus is hard to ignore. Those bright eyes act like a beacon to unsuspecting females, and with features like his, he’s got to be moonlighting for GQ. Luca hopelessly captivates Ariel with his confidence and charisma, but the mysteries surrounding him make him nearly untouchable. And just when Ariel grows close enough to unlock his secrets, a tragic event sends her life in a downward spiral.

That steady life is no longer an option and allies quickly become scarce. The mysterious Luca seems to be the only one willing to help her—but with that trust comes the burden of his secrets. He has a dark mission of otherworldly proportions, and is willing to sacrifice as many lives as it takes to see it completed.

Gone are the days of simply maintaining normalcy, and if Ariel isn’t cautious with her trust, so soon may be her future.

Author Interview:

First off, I'd like to thank you for joining me on the blog today!

1. Describe The Crimson Hunt as a tweet (140 characters or less)!
A college student throws out all her hard-earned normality when she literally runs into the new guy on campus.

2. If you could re-title The Crimson Hunt what would you call it and why?
I would definitely call it The Brave Hunt. There’s a reference further in the book that tells why. Luca is more than who he seems and the internal conflict he has with that would make for a great title change-up!

3. What inspired you to start writing?
I wanted to read novels that related to people like me. I was in grad school and wanted something to read other than my boring textbooks. When I went in search for those types of books at my local bookstores, I literally couldn’t find anything. Searching online, I found one book about college students: Beautiful Disaster. I enjoyed that book so I looked for more, but couldn’t find any. That was when I realized books like this didn’t really exist. So I sat down, thought about what I was looking for in a book, and went to work. Three weeks later I had a novel. While I was in the process of publishing it, new adult literally evolved around me. Now, it’s everywhere and I’m so grateful for that.

4. What kind of research, if any, did you do for The Crimson Hunt?
As far as research, I just kind of thought about what type of book I wanted to write. I wasn’t much of a reader at the time. The last book I read was a few years prior. I am a movie buff though, so I went off that. I knew I wanted action, suspense, adventure, and a whole lot of love all set on a college campus. That’s really how the book happened. I did research online for specifics like academic period lengths and dates of major exams.

5. Do you have a specific place where you write?
When I wrote “Crimson” I was really into Barnes and Noble, mostly because of their delightful coffees :-) I wrote the whole novel there. Now, I have a mini office that my husband built for me.

6. What are you reading right now?
I’m kind of in between books right now, but I just finished Caught Up in Us by Lauren Blakely. I’m about to start Sins and Needles by Katrina Hale.

This or That...

Ebook or Real book?
Ebook. Easier to hold, lol

Twitter or Facebook?
As of now Facebook, but my loyalty always varies!

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla!

Past or Future?
Future for sure.

And just for fun- What is the strangest thing on your desk right now?
A stuffed M&M that I use for cleaning my monitor. That’s technically its function, but it is a weird theme for a monitor cleaner.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!
